Do no till food plots really work?

I have been so busy I haven't been able to get out and do any food plots yet.On top of that the guy I hunt with is a farmer and he has been so busy he never got a chance to do any tilling. Well now is peanut season and he won't be done until after the hunting starts. I was looking at some no till plot mix but I wasn't sure just how good it will work. Has anyone every had any success with it.

I planted some throw n' grow and it really took off... I just peeled a bit of the grass off the surface and it sprouted in about 4 days... Without any sort of tilling it should still work bout just not as well...

Most seeds can be planted "no till", though germination percentages will be less than traditional planting methods. The two most important things are seed-soil contact and moisture. Really no need for "special" mixes. It would be benificial to kill existing vegetation and mow before planting. Smaller seeds work the best because they are most likely to make it to the soil.

You could increase your germination if you rolled or even drove a 4 wheeler over it to help the seed make good soil contact if planting larger seeds

I bush hogged a trail through my property and put out some of the throw 'n grow. It only grew where there was bare dirt. It came pretty quick after the first rain in those spots though.

Imowedthe native grass, raked thesoil and through out a bag of Throw & Grow. No rain for a week = no germination. Instead of a deer plot I had a dove field. Moral of the story, make sure it rains or you are just feeding the birds. FYI I did not shoot the dove off the seed. Good Luck I think it is worth a try .

Imperial Whitetail "No Plow". I mow as low as I can get, rake it out, throw the seed and fertilizer and lightly rake it again.......and TA-DA......
