Anyone hunt withRemington 300 Ultra Mag? If so how do you like it?

I've never hunted with one but i have one and shot it a bit. Its extremely accurate and comfortable to shoot

Personally, I would go with a 300 win mag. The problem I have seen with cartridges like that is the ammo is really high and finding it abundantly can be a challenge. Just my .02 cents.

I have a Winchester Model 70 in 300 short mag and really like it. Lot less recoil than my Ruger .270

What kind of deer would you use a 300 mag on ? Are they good for mulies? I wouldn't bother for a white tail or black tail - or even a mulie for that matter.

i would go with the 300 win mag, my cousin has a ultra mag and i reload the shells for him. it takes 15% more powder to get 5% more velocity. to me its not worth the price and if you dont reload, the shells are $40 and higher

The 300 RUM is pretty hot. I never shot one but the recoil has to be right up there. Personally I would go with the 300 Win Mag or the 300 WSM because of the availability of factory ammo.

I shoot a 300 wby mag, you dont wanna hit a shoulder on a deer with it or you can kiss the entire shoulder goodbye as it will destroy almost all the meat in that shoulder.Make sure its a lung or heart shot.

only difference between the 300 RUM and 300 wby mag is a few 100fps velocity and slightly longer cartridge.

Dislocate your shoulder for 1 thing!I currently hunt with a winchester .243 super short mag. I really like it, shoots flat not much recoil. My brother actually has a 300 rum. I was just wondering what everybody thought of the round. Personally I think its a little much. It knocks em down and guts em all at once.
