RE: Savage 111 package rifles
I bought the package deal a year ago. I think it was cheaper or similar in price than the non package deal. I trashed the mount, sold the scope, bought Leupold mount and rings, and put a Nikon monarch on top of that!

I bought a savage rifle package a few months ago and the scope was average. I had a Simmons, but I decided to put on a Nikon Buckmaster instead. I'm putting the simmons scope on my little .22
I love savage guns, but in the future I will steer away from the package deals, because the scopes aren't worth it.

I bought the Savage Axis XP Camo Rifle in the .223 with the Bushnell 3x9x40mm scope package and it's a very nice combo and price on that Model of Savage.I also heard some cān get the Nikon scope package which is even better from what I've read!
My Savage was also bore sighted at the Factory....it was much easier and quicker to sight it in also!I've seen the package scopes on the Remington Rifles and they were awful, poor quality and tough to sight thru!

I too have a Savage Axis with the Bushnell scope as part of a package in 243 and I couldn't be happier. I don't think that Savage would put a scope on their guns that would make them look bad because a customer was not satisfied. I don't think that there is any way that you can buy that gun and any scope for the price that you paid.
Enjoy it, and when you have some loose money in your pocket you can upgrade.
I'll bet that most people don't.

I bought a Savage package 30.06 years ago. I killed several elk with it. One year when I was doing my last sight in, I couldn't hit crap. We decided the scope was bad. I was in Meeker, Colorado. I had to pay $400 dollars for a $300 dollar scope.
All in all, I was very happy with the gun and the results from it.
If I was going to buy a Savage package deal again, I would put the scope on a 22 and sell the rings.

I bought a Savage 111FXP3 in .308 at Walmart last year for under $400 OTD and replaced the scope but it appeared to be a bushnell. The scope is fine and I am sure it would do the job for most hunting. The gun is something else. I like my brownings and weatherbies, but for the price Savage is king. Love the acu-trigger, and recently I got my best group (with this gun) out of it- just a smidge over .6" at 100 yards with a handload. I am no perfect shot and it is a sporter barrel, but with the right shooter and load I'm sure 1/2 MOA can be achieved.

I got one factory direct for my son right before Christmas. I work part time at a sporting goods store so I was able to do a pro form for the gun. Yes it comes with a 3x9 Bushnell but sometimes these scopes will fool you. They are not the quality of others but I had one like it on another savage 7mm and shot deer out to 300 yards with it over the course of a few years. I did step up to a higher power scope and my wife now has the 3x9 on the .270 she got for Christmas. HD.
