Default Savage 111 package rifles

Has anyone picked up the recent Savage 111 scope/rifle combo from their local sporting goods store lately? I purchased one last week and despite every reference I've found online stating they come with a Simmons scope, it appears mine may have come with a Bushnell Buckhorn. Just curious if anyone else could confirm that is how they are shipping now.

I bought a savage rifle package a few months ago and the scope was average. I had a Simmons, but I decided to put on a Nikon Buckmaster instead. I'm putting the simmons scope on my little .22

I love savage guns, but in the future I will steer away from the package deals, because the scopes aren't worth it.

Yeah I had heard as much as well. But as it turned out I couldn't find anything with or without a scope for the price I got the Savage 111 - $330. Well, except for the bottom end Remington but that involved a rebate, seemed to have a worse scope on it, and 9 out of 10 gun owners seem to agree the entry level Savages are a much better firearm.

Savage makes a great gun and you won't be disappointed.

My cousin has the Savage 110 w/o accutrigger for over three years now and all that it still has on it is the cheap Simmons scope that came with it. It is a 300 Win Mag and he's killed numorous deer at over 200 yards with it and it is still going strong.

I normally opt not to get the package deals and suggest others to do the same. The scopes and mounts used are normally not very good. A Stevens 200 and a separate scope of better quality is usually the better route. Might cost a bit more but the quality optics would be worth it my opinion.

Yeah I tried to go that route, but funny enough the old place in town that had the Stevens wanted more for that then the 111 combo cost me.

Get the Savage 111 combo, I do not think you can find a better deal. Yeah, a Leoupold or a Nikon or something like that would be a luxury but the Simmons will do just fine. Buy it and and see for yourself. I am thinking of getting one myself now!
