I have a metal ladder attached to my permanent tree stand, but its extremly loud, and rain hiting it sounds like im trying to scare the deer away, i cant replace it because of how its nailed into the tree, do you guys know of any ways to make it less noisy?

A sawz-all would solve you problem. Then build a wooden one.

Maybe wrap it in pipe insulation or roll bar padding.

You can spray it with the black rubber sound deadener you use for the underneath of your car. You can get a can from most any auto parts store.

get some of that rhino lining. and coat the bars with that. If you use cloth tape it will retain moisture and be slicker than snot on a door knob.

To quiet it get some of that spray foam in a can, plug one end of each wrung and fill it with the expandable foam. This will eliminate any sound.

use duct tape. you will have to redo the steps every year maybe but it will do the trick. I've done it before and it worked good.

I have a few permanent stands and all we use are wooden ladders. I actually ripped a 16 foot 9 inch wide board right down the middle. Cut a few 2 foot 2 by 4s and you have a nice looking ladder. I do have a "tower" that I hunt out of as well. We use a metal ladder for that, just because of the height. I haven't had any problems scaring deer while climbing up that.

Add rubber or leather washers on both sides of the screws and fill the tubing with spray foam or stuff batting from old pillows into them. Any deer that have passed that ladder on a rainy day have heard the sound it makes and won't be alarmed by that as much as they will be by the sight of the object that wasn't on it yesterday.
