Hunting Partner/Property
 

Hey guys,

Havent been on this forum in a long time, too much stuff with my new job and school. Have been having a hard time finding a place to hunt. Basically, my grandfather was part owner of a 100 acre piece of land in bolton (about an hour north of toronto) before he passed away. Since all the owners are older now, and have no interest in farming the land there like they used to, the opted to sell it this summer. This was the property that I have hunted for the past 3 years now.

Anyway, I'm 17 years old and got my hunting license 3 summers ago, but no one in my family hunts, so I have yet to harvest a deer during the three season Ive hunted. Ive read and read and reread all the information, but i think that real life advice is much better than books and stuff.

I was interested in finding someone near me to hunt with, or possibly someone who knew of land that i could hunt on nearby. Like i said, im an hour north of toronto and something close would be great, but i dont mind a bit of a drive if nothing close is available.

I will be going door-to-door soon, asking for permission near me, and was also wondering if anyone had any tips on what to say, how to act, etc. to improve my chances of getting permission. Keep in mind that im 17 and i will be bowhunting only, and have all the necessary licensing and am a responsible and safe individual.

Cant help you out with either. Any properties that I have gotten permission to hunt came from just knowing the right people. I wish you the best of luck and don't give up.

When door knocking, always ensure them that your will respect their land and property. By not driving on it and so forth. Volunteering some time may be an option also. I always give them 1/4 to 1/2 of what I take off their land. Just be nice and if you get turned down, don't hold a grudge, and move on. You'll find something.

Hardware stores, and feed stores, and barber shops.
Go to these plases and ask the people that work in them,
they almost always know of some one that could possibly let you hunt their land.
Or the might know of some one that would like to hunt with you.
