Arrowed a buck in velvet last night with 10 min left of legal shooting timeat 8:45. Nothing huge but a nice buck to start the season. I saw where he crashed through the woods and gave him an hour and a half before I started to look for him. Found a couple of good pools of blood but the bush was thick so I thought I would be prudent and find him first thing in the morning. Now it's pouring! I'm sure there'll not be much of a blood trail in the morning so I hope he didn't go far. Hopefully I'll be able to post the pics tomorrow.

Found him. 5 little knobbers on one side and 7 on the other. Will be BBQ'ing the tenderloins tonight!

Superstrutter the meat was all good. It was fairly cool last night (around 50 F) and with the cold rain it helped keep him fresh. The rain washed all the blood off and around him so he was nice and clean when I found him first thing this morning (only about 30 yards from where I stopped last night). What was also real cool was a good hunting buddy and his 18 year old daughter (she just started pulling bow) were out with me last night. She's 18 and for the most part, even though she is very outdoorsy, never was very interested in hunting till about a year ago and last night was her first time in the bush with us. She came out with me this morning to find the buck then helped gut, skin and then butcher him. She's signed up and will be taking her hunter safety 2 weeks from tomorrow. Win another one over for the good guys!
