How do you exactly base how a deer "scores", and what are you referring to? The antlers or the body?

The length and diameter of the antlers measured at predetermined points totaled together .

If you yahoo "Pope and Young" and go to the website and click on the measure tab, it will show you exactly how to measure a deer. that will give you a idea of what a score is. Basically it is just several measurements of the antlers from all diff angles. Hope this helps.

Its not a dumb question, we all had to learn this stuff at one time or another.

Plus the inside spread, deductions for asymmetry, and keep in mind the inside spread cannot exceed the longest main beam or that's a deduction. On a non-typical, you net out the typical frame and add in the non-typical points for the net non-typical score. Confused yet? :D
