Best buck lure for begining of October
I was wondering what scent works good for the begining of october. I am from southern Indiana and just started bowhunting last year. Bow season starts the 1st of October and i was wondering what scent everyone has had good luck with.

All I can think of early in october is for the hunterto be scent free as possible.. Then by the second week of october Im gonna start making mock scrapes (gonna give tinks powerscrape a try). In early november Im gonna use doe in heat or some other estrous scent cuz it obviously can help attract a buck or even spark the curiosity of another doe. I had a doe come into my scent wick two years ago during shotgun seasonand sniff it for a half hour. Where in Southern Indiana? Do you know where Ohio County is in SE Indiana? Thats where I hunt/own property

For the most part I wouldn't even worry about using scent that early.
If you are just after any buck, one of the curiosity scents out there may bring in some young bucks. Good luck. |

nothing at all... most scents used that time of the year tend to spook deer, espically mature bucks;)
The only time I use any scent is during the pre rut/rut... when i started out, I used every scent possible and ended up just spooking deer. Just stick to covering your scent and worry about doe scents in late oct/early Nov |
