Unless it was fresh water it wouldn't do you any good at all, other than breed mosquitoes if you left it there. If your going to bait just use food like corn or something. Deer gravitate towards bodies of water, not something in a bucket. But I think if I am correct they get a lot of their water intake by licking it off off plants and stuff when it dews. And they probably get a certain amount from the actual vegetation they browse on.
I could be wrong on that, but I know other animals do it. Paul |

If you did it daily....

I'm not going to say it wouldn't work cause I don't know. If you were in a dry area of the country there would be a better chance. I agree that you could grow a lot of mosquitos though.

RE: with as ambitious as hunters are today..........
Don't put it under you stand take it up in the stand with you and throw it on the deer instead of shooting it!!!!!
|
RE: with as ambitious as hunters are today..........
the bucket doesnt make much sense. maybe diggin out and makin a small pond.
|
RE: with as ambitious as hunters are today..........
Get yourself a small pond liner and throw some mosquito dunks in it, the kind farmers use in their cattle troughs to eliminate that problem. If you can get the water there somehow during a drought, that might just work very well.

It would be a great idea if you want to bring West Nile close to your stand....

We dug a hole in the ground about twice the size of a bath tub. It took 3 of us about 30 mins.the first good rain filled it up and once we hit a drought, it actually lasted a few weeks after everything else dried up. When it came to putting meat in the freezer, that hole produced more meat then a grocery store!!
