RE: REALTREE HAS A NEW SHOW

I wonder how many of the hunts will be self-guided versus using outfitters?

I am tired of those shows to. My 5 year old thinks that there a only"shooters" out in the woods.

RE: REALTREE HAS A NEW SHOW

I just hate how hunting shows have made it to where guys feel ashamed to shoot anything other than a 150+ buck. I took a 5x5 a couple years ago in the forest, from the side it looked nice, and in the woods you don't have all day to measure horns so it took it. Turned out to be a narrow buck, only about 14 inches, but still a national forest 5x5, so not terrible. Well some guys came by camp and gave me loads of crap about taking a little buck, but they are also guys who rarely leave the truck and haven't shot a buck in years, but with all the hunting shows they watch they had to bash my buck. I love huge horns, but hunting has suffered from being turned into being all about the horns, not the experience, the challenge, the friends, or the meat. Maybe if a show would focus on these factors as much as the horns, more real hunters would tune in.

The act and people treat them like they are great hunters

If you took me to one of those places, I could kill a 180 clas deer too...

I'm the first to critisize hunting shows and hunting over bait and target rich environments. However, I think some of you should watch some of the early Realtree shows. Bill Jordan does know how to hunt. Yes he's got caught up in all the private mega buck properties, but, I think that was the evolution of trying to put out videos with 23 hunts vs. the old 6-9 hunts. I agree with most of what's been said except for the statements Bill can't hunt. The boy is no novice. He's made a life and fortune from his clothing and his videos. You can't fault a boy for having good business sense. In person he's a personnable, likeable, friendly person. I'm sure he has his moments with his schedule, but he does know how to hunt.

David, Bill started out in mostly all high fences!

Nonetheless, I am not here to defend but it is outdoor entertainment sure beats much of the other crap on tv nowadays.

Yup, in his early years he did indeed have a couple hunts at "The Preserve" with the likes of Steve Bartkowski etc, but he also had a lot of just plain old woods hunts.

I don't mind watching them and in fact enjoy some of them. I watch them with the attitude of entertainment, supporting guys who do donate and help many organizatons that are PRO Hunting which does not hurt and also may even pick up a tip here and there. In fact I used a snort wheeze I made with my mouth the get a buck that had passed to come back and give me the opportunity to get a shot. I would never have even thought of trying that unless I saw it on those shows. But I agree the high fence, staged recoveries, fake reinactment of shots do get old. But again I take it for what it's worth.

Midwest whitetails huh? Nope never seen a show like that before in my life.

Man, I bet this is going to be a real nail biter.

the boys at realtree have a new show coming out this fall called MIDWEST WHITETAILS and by the looks of the preview show on realtree.com it looks awesome. it's hardcore hunting in the midwest.big bucks serious hunters and tons of action is what everyone wants. i think everyones getting bored after watching most hunting shows but i think this one will be different. no bs. just big deer. i'm excited check it out at REALTREE.COM
I watched the 7 minute trailer on realtree.com and the only thing "NEW" about this "show"is instead of being on T.V. it will be shown on realtree.com each week.

I am taking a stab in the dark herebut are you one of the "proven" hunters that will be "picking out the bucks you want to hunt during the season" and will be featured in this showon realtree.com?

RE: REALTREE HAS A NEW SHOW

I totally agree that those shows do program the majority of hunters into "trophy takers" only. Actually i had a buddy that went into Ohio to a ranch and paid like $4000.00 to shoot the buck of a lifetime, and his was a cheap one there were ones that cost up to $10,000. I watched the video of them while at the ranch and there were some impressive bucks, to be honest they were the biggest i have ever seen, but i couldn't possibly fathom spending that much money on going to shoot something. Not to knock what he did, his money, his decision, and he really seemed to enjoy the experience, but personally i enjoy going out and walking through the woods, looking for sign, developing plans, etc.

Personally i feel that it from a spike to Bullwinkle, as long as the individual is following the guidlines set by the state, landowner, huntclub, etc. they can shoot whatever they want. I hunt for food first, horns are cool don't get me wrong, but i like watch my friends get excited when i bring them bags of backstrap to eat......

As far as shows, i like watching guys like Greg Miller, Pat Reeves, and Stan Potts. Take the shows for what they are worth and that is what you make out of them.........
