Savage rifle in my eyes, and I have owned both.

Depends on the uses... But I killed alot of deer with my Savage .270 before I got my Ruger.

Why are you comparing a rifle to a shotgun, totally different types of weapons. I would rather have a rifle for deer hunting.

i had both when first i first started hunting...a 20 ga. moss pump and a savage .243. couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with the moss dove hunting...I hear they are good for turkeys though. the rifle i have used and occasionally still do. certainly accurate for the price. killed a deer just last year with it at 250 yrds.

Both are great for their intended purposes.

What is better, a truck or a motorcycle? I wouldn't take my bike to get a load of mulch and I wouldn't put the Mrs. in the back of my truck for a ride through Deal's Gap.

Yeah, you can't really compare the two. Tell us what your plans are and then we can make an informed decision. BTW, I own a savage 300 win mag and a mossberg 12 guage andI will say without reservation both have been flawless in their operation.

Like said above, hard to compare the two. But, IF you can only have/afford one, and want to do a variety of hunting, then a shotgun is the way to go. You can hunt deer with a smoothbore and slugs, but you've got to be real good to hit a pheasant or duck on the wing with a Savage rifle.

Like comparing the truck and cycle, if you could only have one, go with the truck. You can throw the Mrs. in the back of the truck, but try carrying a load of mulch on the back of the bike.

Of course, the obvious answer is...get both...and then a Muzzy...then a nice 1911...then...
