The H&R's seem to really like lightfield slugs, but every barrel is differant.

Winchester XX in 2 3/4. Cut clover leaf patterns out of my smoothbore 870 at 50 yards.

I would try SST's first then Lightfield. I use a mossberg 500 with 24in rifled and scoped barrel, and they shoot well out of it at 150yds. But I have several boxes of bernekke and lightfield I have yet to take to the range as well.

Mine hated lightfields. It also didn't like any of the faster light bullets that went above 1700 or so fps. If I stayed around there it did pretty well. The H&R's have a fairly slow twist rate, some have good luck with the faster rounds but most I have talked to said they don't group too well.

I had the best luck with winchester platinums. H&R told me on the phone they test shoot them with 2 3/4 inch winchester BRI sabots. Copper solids would be worth a try as well. And it wouldn't hurt to try lightfields, might just have been my gun that didn't like them. Slug guns can be pretty finnicky. I have heard a lot of great things about the Hastings slugs as well.

Mine actually shot really well with winchester super X rifled slugs. Makes one heck of mess in the barrel though.

I have 2 H&R USH's , 1-20gauge and 1-12gauge. I am currently shooting Federal with Barnes Tipped slugs.................... But I have also shot SST's and Remington Ultra Core Lokts which preformed flawlessly but I preferred to use the all copper bullet made by Barnes.............

My H&R loves the 2 3/4 lightfields. I have three H&R's (1 12ga & 2 20ga), all three shoot the lightfields really well.
