shotgun scope?
 

anyone have any suggestions on a good shotgun scope? I have an H&R and Im looking for a scope that wont bump easily and is reliable/affordable.. Thanks

You've got to check out the latest Nikon Shotgun scope with the Slughunter BDC reticle. It can soak up any amount of recoil your shotgun could hammer it with, plus it has an outstanding 5" of eye relief.

Cannot go wrong with a Nikon. I have one on my H&R and the two combine makes for one heck of a deer killing machine.

For a shotgun shooting slugs, your two most important features are going to be durability and eye relief. The former to keep the scope working properly after many rounds of heavy recoil, and the later to keep your forehead relatively clear of marks that suspiciously resemble the occular end of your scope. For slug gun ranges, I wouldn't bother paying for magnification above 4x or so.

I have a Bushnell Banner 1.75x-4x. Not sure of the objective size off the top of my head, but the little sucker has 6" of eye relief and seems pleny clear. I didn't do much research on scopes before buying it, but it's been working just fine for me.

there is a third factor. adjustment travel a shotgun scope should have 70 or 80 inches of adjustment capability. otherwise you wont be able to adjust for the slug drop. leupold makes one.

I have use a leupold sucessfully for 8 years now on my Browning A-Bolt 12 gauge.

I have a Leupold VX-II in 3-9x40on my H&R Ultra....Fot the money a Bushnell Trophy is a good decent scope
