RE: BOW HUNTING QUESTIONS!!!
you need to post this in the bow hunting section. what weight is you bow?
|
RE: BOW HUNTING QUESTIONS!!!
if its around 40 pounds 2117 might be too stiff, Im only used to aluminum arrows for traditional bows, so it may work for a compound.
I would try a carbon arrow in the 500 spinerange. Carbons are tougher than aluminums. |
RE: BOW HUNTING QUESTIONS!!!
ORIGINAL: swampghost But I will say this, if using a mechanical the rage is the only way to go. |
RE: BOW HUNTING QUESTIONS!!!
ORIGINAL: swampghost Just a quick comment here. I'm not out to start a huge debate. I think the conventional wisdom seems to be a 2 blade fixed broadhead for light poundage bows and was wondering if 40 lbs. might not fit into that category. But I will say this, if using a mechanical the rage is the only way to go. |
RE: BOW HUNTING QUESTIONS!!!
check your local laws and make sure 40lbs. is legal. i think its like 42 or 45 minimum in georgia. idk about you

RE: BOW HUNTING QUESTIONS!!!
Cut on contact...do NOT use a Rage head. I would keep your shots to 20 yards and in. With a 40 lb bow, you'll be lobbing it in there at 30 yards. Too many bad things can happen then.
Good luck! |
RE: BOW HUNTING QUESTIONS!!!
You should have posted this in the Bowhunting Forum.

RE: BOW HUNTING QUESTIONS!!!
1. You'd get much more and thorough info in the bowhunting forum.
2. Some good info here, some poor. When you are 13 you can't tell which is which. 2 blade cut on contact head will be your best bet. Forget the mechanicals for now. Keep your shots 20 yds and under, I don't care how good you get on the practice range. |
RE: BOW HUNTING QUESTIONS!!!
I agree with jnturk. but like he said also, you dont necesarly need a tree stand. where i hunt on puble land, i just take an old milk crate, and set it at a intersection or something. it seems to work, because you can play the wind and set up how you want to over a tree stand (unless its a climber) where its already in the tree and the wind might not make it well for that stand. but good luck this season
