Well you can't go wrong with any of those choices. If it was me I would go with the Zeiss3-9X40 because I could mount the scope lower to the barrelthan the 3.5-10X44 and I prefer Zeiss optics over Leupold. I do own both Zeiss Conquest and Leupold VX III scopes.

That actually brings up another question......
How many of you folks like the slight "bump up" in magnification in a 4.5-14X40 scope. At the ranges I'll be hunting, I don't need that much magnification.....but it seems like it would be nice for shooting paper at past 100 yards when I'm trying to see what load groups the best out of my rifle.
What do you think?

The reason why I chose a 14x is becauseI do a lot of hunting on a power-pipeline. If a deer I would like to take steps out at 300 or 400 yards, I feel confident with the shot. I have a 14x scope zeroed in at 300 yards. If you don't plan on shooting over 200-250 yards, then a 9x will be fine. I would still go with the Zeiss 10x out of the three choices, but that's just my choice.
