I wouldn't go in the woods without one. I've had deer right underneath me , heck maybe it attracts them.:D It's worth its weight in gold.

it definitely works. as far as scaring deer. i'm not sure. i've never heard a deer blow at me or heard one run off while using the thermacell. i'm sure that it is a lot less alarming to deer than any good mesquito repellant that i've used.

It works great for early season when the mosquitos are bad! I have seen deer with it burning up with me in my tree stand.

I got one about a week ago and I've been very impressed. Used it yeasterday morning eating breakfast on my back deck (uaually a bite fest for skeeters) and it worked great. I took the pad out after using it for an hour and sealed it in a ziplock. It's still blue so I think I can reuse it. The package says it's good till it's white, so... I've been told it has no effect on deer. I'll find that out first day of bow season.

I won't go into the woods without it....I was so thick headed for a year after my sister told me about hers, i hunted without it, just didn't feel the need, then i broke down, i now have 3, lol....I haven't spooked any deer with mine to my knowledge...maybe one day they'll associate humans with the smell, but it's still fairly new and i just don't think they've put it together yet...JMHO

A lil trick is when the pads get white, i mean white white, i like to pour some doe in heat on the pad and let that burn for awhile, or even put the bottle on it and set it out about 25-30 yds from ya......;):D:)

It does what it says!! I have used one for several years and have had nothing but success. As far as wether it puts off odor I think it does but you have to really be tring to smell it. I look at it this way if you are swatting bugs while in the stand you are going to be seen anyway.

Marquette,
I have used them for the last 5 seasons and wouldn't go into the woods without it now. Where we hunt, archery comes in August 15th with 95 degree weather and mosquitoesas big asdragon flies. We tried everything including Shannon's Bugtamer, it worked to keep them from biting but the mosquitoes were so loud buzzing around your head that it was impossible to hear deer coming. Now, just I turn the thermacell on 10 minutes before I get to the stand (to warm it up) and hunt in shorts and a t-shirt. Granted, I try to cover up my white legs:D. I have had deer as close as under my stand and they did not spook from the smell (but I try to climb at least 25 feet so that might have something to do with it).

Have never used mine durning deer season but fully plan to this year, spring turkey season it did wonders. My little brother told me this weekend that they now have a scented pad for deer season. Woods scent or something...

Its a must have for early archery and spring turkey. I've had deer right under my stand and not spook.

Like everyone else is saying thermacell has worked great for me. I dont know how I use to hunt without one escpecially here in florida where they can be down right awful. I havent read all the posts on this thread but If you decide to get one you are going to save a littlebit of money on refills buying the $20 4-pack as opposed to the individual refills which are usually $5.99.

just bought one, skeeters love me BTW[:@], my question now is, i noticed the small butane bottle, is that the only one you can use, i have read/glanced over the instructions, it sounds like the packet?? last around 4 hours, how long does the butane last, what all comes in a "refill pack" thanks for the info and the post;), i will probably be trying mine out this W/E, but it will be while doing some hot work in skeeter country[:@][:-][&o]

the refill pack comes with an extra butane cartridge and 3 repellent pads. i usually don't use more than 2 butane cartridges a year. as soon as the sun comes up and the skeeters slack off i shut it down.

Nope. Just the aerial assault buggers. It doesn't do anything for largerbugs like deer flies or hornets either, but just what they do for mosquitoes and black flies its worth itsweight in gold.
