Usually,
30-06
Hornady Custom SST 180 grn
I've been thinking about swiching to the Light Magnum in 150 grn just to try something different.

If I'm gonna be in the brush I'll go to my 30-30 and use Winchester 150 grn Super X just because I happen to have a box left.

I am not too choosey when it comes to ammo for deer, and since my Savage 30-06, and .243 seem to shoot all of the bullets that I have tried wellI don't discriminate too much. I have grown fairly fond of the Hornady 150gr Interbond, and SST's for the 30-06 though.

RE: what bullet do you use?

As an Illinois resident, limited to shotguns and muzzleloaders for deer, I use trusty 'ol Winchester Super-X BRI sabot slugs. They work great for my application.

The technology for shotgun slugs and muzzleloader loads amazes me these days. Some of the newer rounds are getting out there a good distance …eh?

I'm a bit jealous though. I'd love tobring my trusty Remington 700to the woods with me. Maybe an out of state hunting trip is in order! :)

Deer aren't hard to kill, in my 30-06 I just buy winchester 150 grain psp loads. I hunt in Florida were the ranges are short, if I hunted were a longer shot were posssible I'd switch to a premium 165 grain boattail.
