Default When do you clear shooting lanes?

Well, this year I decided to get out and do my clearing before I knew it was going to rain. My thinking was that with the heavy rains and wind we have been getting may wash away most of the traces that I leave behind. Also, maybe the deer won't think twice about a couple more branches being down ( due to the storm) . I don't usually clear paths until August or sometimes September so hopefully it will bring a little more luck. I guess come October I will see if it pays off.

I try to go out in early march and based on what I saw the previous season I look for new stand sites while the leaves are still down and you can really see the area well. Then I use a climber to get up in the tree I choose and start to clear out a couple lanes. By the time fall arrives there may some return growth, but it has rarely ever been enough to cover the lane up and the deer have no idea.

The time is now! Do it early get out of there and stay out. I usually do it the same time I hang stands in July and I don't return till October.

I am usually done by August with all my stand set's and lanes cleared, this year I in June. The only time I do much more trimming unless I move or add a hang on to get on a deer...I don't like being in my stand sets too much before season....

I used blaze tape to mark off new stand placements and shooting lanes right after the season last fall. I've already did most of the cutting and clearing before the bushes and trees put out their leaves. I'll head out again at the end of this month and clear up any that have grown in.

Never.

What's the point of going in to the woods and then cutting it down?

What's the point of camoflauging yourself and then showing every thing that walks, crawls or flys you are out there hacking down the cover?

What's the point of looking for a good concealment point and then cutting down the concealment?

What's the point of keeping your mouth shut aboutyour hunting spot you've worked hard to find and then showing every one who walks with in a 100 feet what you've found?

Look like nothing, smell like nothing, sound like nothing, kill like a ton of bricks falling out of the clear blue sky. That's my policy.
