So where is this great tag good for? What state?

I'm glad I like bowhunting so much as even if I fail to draw a great gun tag somewhere, I still get 2 great archery tags every year. Illinois has some really good public land if a guy pokes around long enough. And the bowhunters get the prime rut. I belong here.

Anyway, if you got a good tag make sure you put some legwork in scouting.

Luckily, here in Iowa we don't have to draw for tags. We have so many of the well corn fed pests that tags are available aplenty. I typically get 3 to 4 for me and the same for my son. That allows us to hunt Youth season for two weeks in September, then Shotgun and Muzzleloader seasons which take us from December 13th clear to Jan 10th. If we bow hunted, we'd have pretty much the entire fall.
