This might rub a lot of people the wrong way but hunting deer with hounds is something that turns my crank big time. There is no bigger rush than to hear the race coming your way.

I' ve never hunted with dogs for deer but I' d like to sometime. It looks to me like it' s just the same as a drive, only the pushers are dogs. It' s not like hog hunting where you have catch dogs.
It isn' t like the dogs just run out and catch a deer for you, they just run it like a rabbit. I rabbit hunt all the time so other than the deer run further, I can' t see how it could be any different.

Bowhunting from a treestand. On occasion I do hunt from the ground but every time I scout a new area I find myself looking for a tree to hang a stand.
When I get to old to be climbing amongst the tree tops safely, I will hunt from the ground. I just love to hunt.

I like to concentrate on one hunting area and learn it like the back of your hand.
Know bedding areas, feeding areas, and when there is pressure from other hunters
you must know their escape routes. I set up 4 or 5 stands in my area and use them all. Keep those critters guessing. I rarely use the same stand two days in a row. I also use a climber to pinpoint a specific run or food source. Be Mobil, but always get up a tree. I' ve taken my share of deer from the ground but the majority
of my success has been in the treetops.
