Copper Bullets?

As of July, a good portion of California will be limited to the use of copper bullets only- Does anyone have any experience with these? Any suggestions on brands, etc? Seems like they are so new/unpopular/expensive, nobody is talking about them yet.

I'm shooting a .308.

Copper alloy is much more expensive than lead and is also more difficult to machine. Barnes-X is the only mass production copper solid that I know of. I am sure there are others though, and we may start to see new ones cropping up.

Copper bullets are actually really popular and have been around for a will. If you are needing a factory ammo this will probably be your best bet.

I'm sure that closer to season all the local stores will stock up on copper and you'll see it alot more.

I can't deer hunt with a centerfire in Illinois but for my muzzleloader I use the solid copper Barnes Expander MZ in 250 and 300gr. Theyexpand perfectlyand hold together. They are like a $1 a shot just for the bullet + the powder and sabot, some folks say they are too expensive, I disagree. I'll never let a expensive bulletbe a factor in my hunting. Shoot the cheap ones for fun at the range.

I'm not sure the Nosler E tip is an all copper bullet... it is however lead free. If you like tipped bullets, Barnes has some new tipped offerings in their all copper line.

I think Barnes has been doing the copper thing longer than anyone else so they are an obvious choice, among others.
