Deer Management Workshops - Back by Popular Demand

Three workshops sponsored by MSU Extension (Forestry Team, Roscommon, and Wexford Counties) and Midland Conservation District will be held in the Mid-Michigan area. The workshops will be the same format as the ones held in Northeast Michigan last winter. Below are the dates, locations, and topics. If you missed us last year, plan to attend this year!! Children attending with an adult: Adult registration fee $25, children $15.

Locations:
March 22 - Ludington, Knights of Columbus Hall
April 12 - Cadillac, United Methodist Church

Topics:
1. Management Philosophies
Traditional: Maximum deer seen and/or maximum bucks available for harvest.
Trophy: Maximum number of mature bucks available for harvest.
Quality: Produce healthy herd within carrying capacity of habitat.

2. Deer Habitat and Management Concepts
3. Deer Home Ranges and Movement Patterns
4. Forestry and Opening Management for Deer
5. Creating and Maintaining Food Plots
6. Deer Hunting Strategies

The DNR declined to participate in this workshop. However, Elaine Carlson will now be at the Cadillac workshop.
