Would you take the shot

I recently was watching a show about the "Ohio grassman" . I was going to post a question ,as a joke,to Ohio hunters to see if any had ever seen one. Then I got to thinking about it. If you were out hunting and saw a grassman, bigfoot, or even a "black panther" (which according to the wildlife dept. does not exist), would you take a shot? Would it be ethical to kill something to prove it's existance? I know this sounds a bit silly, but I would like to hear your thoughts.

Sure I would take the shot. Almost everytimeI go hunting I shoot at something that I have no idea what it is. I'd probably shoot at it and then just keep shooting until I run out of ammo, just in case there are some more that I couldn't see! (wouldn't want one to get away)

That's the human way, if you don't know what something is, shoot it or whack it with a stick and see what happens. Personally I keep a camera as handy as my gun anymore, and would shoot it with that so I could post it here.

I don't think I'd shoot at anything walking on two legs! Could be a dumbass in a suit!
As for panthers, of whatever color, if it is legal, I'd probably shoot! There are no "black Panthers" though.
Most people that see these cougars or panthers or whatever the local term for them is, see them in low light conditions in which they appear to be black!
There is, or was at one time a black cat with spots called a Jaguarundi, but they are supposed to be extinct!

No I would not take the shot, nor do I think it is ethical to shoot something to prove its existence.

Those are, of course, easily recognizable as "sarcasm" to most anyone with an IQ higher than their hat size. But, I guess since you're referring to liberals, you're probably right... Most of them aren't capable of grasping such nuance.:D

With camera rolling, I'd let er eat! To be the first bow hunter to kill a big-foot on-camera would be quite an accomplishment!1

This site is for fun, entertainment, and learning for hunters and outdoorsmen. We should not be afraid of what we say on here. I'm not here to be politically correct. I know we have to watch what we say to some extent, but come on man! Have some fun. If you really want to have some fun, join a peta site and stir the pot!;) (just kidding)

good point. The last thing I need is a lawsuit and my best defense is...."I thought it was bigfoot!"[&:]

This is kind of what I meant. It wasn't a hunter but it could have been and without a carcuss all you would have is a wild story.

If I am not going to eat it and it's not going to eat me, then nope. I'd be pulling out the camera that is always within easy reach.

Do you understand sarcasm? Go back and reread the whole thread. It was meant as a joke. Contrary to popular belief, it really is okay for us to have fun on this site.

Been there, done that . I've already taken two big feet and an alien. They look great in my trophy room. Took a while to find the right taxidermist.

RE: Would you take the shot

Anyone who says or thinks they would or might shot anything that they don't have a license to hunt and is in season and can't definitely identify that it's the game they can legally hunt, I don't think has any business being armed in the field, woods or anywhere in the same state as me.
There are some pretty big guys who in a gilley suit in brush and low light might look to someone like some strange creature. But I guarantee the jury isn't going care that you "thought the guy looked like big foot" before you shot him before they through the book at you and send you to prison and rightfully so!
It's really irresponsible to even think of "taking the shot" at something you can't identify or legally hunt.
Like I say....
