RE: 22-250 on Deer
I think they are fine for deer.. I like to shoot them in the neck and therefore I use Hollow points. They tend to drop in thier tracks and no need for a blood trail.. But if your going for shoulder or behind the sholder I might opt for 60 grain SP for the pass thru and blood trail should you need it.

RE: 22-250 on Deer
If the military uses 5.56 NATO (a souped up .223 Remington) for warfare I see no reason a similar bullet weight/energy combo would not work for deer.
I know I would not hunt Whitetails with it nor would it be condoned in ANY of my hunting camps. As they say, Your mileage may vary. In any event I have to ask with so many better choices out there why would you want to hunt a deer with one? |
RE: 22-250 on Deer
Like any .22 centerfire, it can be an excellent deer round as long as you limit yourself to head shots.
