Default Cost of Corn

just curious what you guys pay for corn. I am going to buy a about a ton of it tomorrow, I've noticed that it's been going up like crazy with it being used for ethanol more and more. 3 years ago we used to pay $80 a ton and last fall it was $168 a ton, it will be interesting to see how much is costs tomorrow. Just wondering if its like this other places.

One of the local stores has "bulk bags" for $240 a ton. A big canvas looking bag with a ton of shelled corn in it.

I saw it at the feed store last week for7.00 plus taxa bag. We always buy ours straight out of the siloand a 55 gallon drum filled cost 25 dollars last year. 3 years ago we were paying 15 a drum.... i am assuming it will be 30 a drum this year

I remember not too long ago, maybe 2 or 3 years, a 50 pound bag of corn down here cost about $3 to $3.50. Sometimes you could find it forunder $3. Those days are long gone. I'll be very lucky to find a bag under $8 this year. I will probably be running only one feeder this year. I like to feed my deer and turkeys year round. I really don't hunt that much on a feeder though, deer that is. It's illegal for turkeys. Anyway, the animals will just have to do with less corn this year. Wheat is even worse. You'll pay $13 to $15 for one bag! That is rediculous. Needless to say, my turkeys won't be eating wheat.

It's ridiculous that corn is going up, we already have to much of the stuff, ie high fructose corn syrup.....used in place of sugar in everything! then corn ethanol.....not really much help there, just making corn cost more.

it was just stated on one of the news shows about farm subsidies......a farmer can earn up to 1.5million dollars a year and still qualify for subsidies.....that one needs explaining to me.....IMO there are few areas where we need all these subsidies.....

Last year, I was paying right at $5 a box and just the other day at Wal-mart, I saw where it was $7 a bag (50 lbs).

I bought 1 ton on friday, price went up from 186 to 220 since last fall, its starting to get ridiculous, we are gonna have to only start feeding them in the fall from now on, price of carrots never seems to change, those are always 2-2.50 a bag for as long as i can remember
