Cryo??
Has anyone had their factory barrel cryogenically frozen to relieve the stress in the steel? this is a topic that I'm pretty curious about. I'd like to hear from people on the results, there seems to be alot of hype about extending barrel life, accuracy, velocity, etc. Just wondering if any of them are true? Thanks.

Honestly I've never heard of it.

I don't know about my barrel, but I'm thinking about having my body cryogenically frozen and laterthawed, just to see how the deer hunting is 100 years later. Sorry, but freezing your barrel sounds a little unnecessary.[&:]

RE: Cryo??
I think it depends on how you barrel was manufactered. I found this link, its a good read.

RE: Cryo??
Maybe I'm off, but cryo frozen may have to do with a heated barrel/steel that is then rapidly cooled ie frozen....
not sure about a room temp barrel, that is just cooled to very low temps.... inform us if you know more about the process, but I think this has to do more with treating the steel....you can machine the steel while its soft....then heat it up, then rapidly cool it to give the steel different properties etc.... |
RE: Cryo??
never heard of that. I wouldn't bother, sounds unnecessary
