RE: tipecal & nontipecal?

a typical deer has a rack that is pretty symetrical on both sides...all tines coming straight up off the main beam....a nontypical is a buck thats rack has tines shotting off all over the place..im not sure but i think even if its a typical bit has a drop tine(tine growing down not up like normal) then its a nontypical..but im not positive on that..a pretty popular nontypical you cna easily find a pic of is the beauty(cant spell the name right!) buck......just type in world record nontypical whitetail in your search engine..or world record typical...you will see the diffrence with pics...

www.boone-crockett.org a link to B&C that gives you a score sheets and pretty good description of the two.

Typical is main beam with point orginating in an up or normal fashion and only one point per G position (tine). Like a straight 4 on the right and straight 4 on the left. the points can be 4 x 5, etc and still are typical.

Non-typical is an abnormal antler growth, points orginating form other than the base of the main beam (so off a tine - G measurement). Points grown out or down (droptine) off of the main beam. A 3rd main beam.

Grey area is split brows, tines and kickers. However a point of abnormal count must be more than 1" to be considered a point. If the mainframe of the deer is very typical and there are some long enough or counting kickers it is up to the individual how they are scored: typical or nontypical.

Basically junk/trash(abnormalities) equal non-typical, straight up is a typical.
