Guys,
I came across the article below this morning while sipping on coffee at my hunting shanty, deep in the North FL woods. Got a used laptop from Goodwill a few weeks ago and have found it useful for wildlife research.
Basically, to get right into the message, the article spells out D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R for the Northeast, as legilators refuse to sac up and support a desparately needed fee increase for hunting licenses. Do I even need to say it?
The Northeast has basically given up on the future of deer hunting and are now electing folks who DO NOT CARE about the future of the whitetail population. You ever seen a Filthadelphia whitetail? If I saw one,I would run like Tonto when he stole the Lone Ranger's last biscuit because of the diseease spilling out of any Filthadelphia deer.
Bottom line is that Florida and the Southeast in general continue to be leaders when it comes to herd and overall management of whitetailed deer. You think its bad along the Mexican border with illegals running like Jerry Rice in an attempt to sneak into Texas? Well then have you ever spent any time at the Mason-dixon line....where whitetailed deer are darting and spinning in the night, all in an attempt to break free from the shackles of Yankee malnutrition. Deer who are forgotten - a thing of the past as legislators refuse to increase the fee by a few bucks b/c they could not care any less about sportsmen or the future of hunting whitetails.
There is a reason Brian Murphy laughed and walked out when offered to move QDMA HQ to Pennsylvania instead of Ga. Are you kidding? Brian laughed, walked out, and then called Governor Sonny Purdue to share the laugh with him.
Guys, I hope you are doing well as we approach turkey season down here in the deep South and I hope you Yankees have better success in managing your turkey and squirrel population than you have with whitetails. Take care guys!

Sadly, the NE is not the only area to neglect the betterment of its wildlife.
BTW, I happen to catch one of those deer trying to migrate to Fl. He mistakenly tried to do so during broad daylight. Probably weary from traveling all night without rest!
I know he's a bit below Fl standards, but he is a nice one for around here. Here's a pic. Respect!

I have absolutely no idea what you are saying when you claim that the northeast doesn't give a **** about it's wildlife. And that it won't raise license fees, resident jersey deer hunting licenses for bow, muzzleloader, and shotgun come out to be $375 and the requirement of $28 for every buck tag, and then theres turkey and trout license, as well as a abundance of small game stamps, so if you want to have an all around sportsman license your looking at $500 or up. "yankee malnutrition" is not exactly real, except for the urban areas, which i would say withlittle doubt is the same scenario with the urban south. Deer inthe majorityof the northeast feed on either farmland crops, or the browse of their hardwoods habitat. Given the average antler size of deer is difficult to compare to many parts of the country, the overall health of the herd is not.
