1) I use unscented tampons and napkins for scent wicks, they're cheap and biodegradeable. You can also have a bit of evil fun engaging women at the store in a comparison of the relative merits of "supers" versus "light days". Boy does it make them blush! :D

2) I turned a brand new cheap chalkline reel into a scent dispenser once, you just open the little hatch and saturate the line with the scent of your choice. Not bad for a $2.50 investment.

3) I once used the refill heads from a dustmop for foot silencers, the big puffy strings muffle your footsteps well, and you can scent the undersides to leave a rail.

4) Reflective tape makes a good cheap substitute for reflective trail markers, it comes in sheets and is easy to cut to size. The self adhesive kind works best.

I made shooting sticks from left over replacement fiberglass tent poles. I make two sticks, two sections long each with elastic strungbetween to hold each togther.I covered both in duct tape to muffle the sound, thenI took a few inches ofleft over elastic and tied it together and wound it around both about 6 inches from top. What I have now is a set of shooting sticks that fold to about 18 inches, are muffled for silence and unfold and spread out in just few seconds.

I'd had the extra poles for several years gathering dust in my camping stuff. A friend of mine used pvc pipe and left over fittings for end pieces and just used a bolt and washers to make the pivoting joint. His work well, but I like mine better.

Also, same friend that make the stick out of pvc made his own ghillie suit. He was dove hunting near some cottonwoods in a drainage in the middle of a wheatfield and had it on, cuz a subdivision had moved in nearby and he was trying to be unobtrusive (and just having fun). Any way, doves were slow and a heard of whitetails came walking by. They spotted him and were curious and come closer (couldn't wind him). They spooked a little and started to walk off and he whistled and the got more currious and come to with/in 20 feet of him checking him out. He finally scared them off because he was getting nervous with how close they were getting. His suit is made of scaps of various colored cloth sewed to burlap; all purchased onred tag at Wally World.
