clean skull?

What are some tactics of cleaning skulls? I've always let the taxidermist do it, but decided to hold off this time.

Heres what i do

Skin it really good and get off all the hide and big chunks of meat that you can. Then boil it in a big pot of water for a while (your gonna want to do this outside, cuz it can really stink) Let it sit in the water until the meat softens up a little...then take it out and scrape off what you can...then place it back in the water for a while and repeat this until it is as clean as you want it to be

When you get it clean you can boil it with hydrogen peroxide in the water for a while to make it whiter...but dont get it on the antlers because it can cause them to losesome of theircolor

I just had to clean the hide off of two racks that were about 3 years old. Here's how I did it.

yeah thats all I need is it off the rack. That should work great. I've had it in an antbed and it is starting to become easier to pull on the hide. Now I'll start cutting and soaking. Thanks

well if u live near the ocean it alawys works to skin the skull then just bury it in the sand and the sand fleas or something like that will have it cleaned up quick

RE: clean skull?

If you boil the head to hot it makes the skull weak so using a turkey cooker is not good. A nice fire will do the job. Then take a pressure washer to get the meat off. Takes a second I have done three heads of our own and came out awesome.

So heat it in a fire? I got a pressure washer so that might work.
