RE: new deer rifle
I would get a Browning A-bolt .243 Rifle....they are nice guns and very accurate.Whatever gun you decide on I would shoot it out to 100 yards, then see how accurate you are at 200 yards.Taking a 300 to 350 yard shot...I would get some experience under your belt before trying a shot that far out,I know I know.....some people shoot that far but it takes some serious skill and expertise to take an ethical shoot that far out!
P.S.
If your going to shoot that distance then go with a .270 WSM (Winchester Short Mag)....better knock down power and it will shoot more accurately further out!

RE: new deer rifle
im a pretty good shot ive been shootin all my life and killed my first deer at 7. but I know what your sayin. I think i could shoot deacent that far if I had a good scope mounted on it. i think that makes a big difference. Or it does for me anyways

RE: new deer rifle
I would tend to agree that a .243 is a good gun for someone your age. My first couple deer were killed with a Remington 700 in .243. Another option you might want to consider is that Remington makes "managed recoil" loads now for rifles. That way you can get a 30-06 or a 7mm Mag and shoot these lighter loads that wont kick your brains out. They reduce your range a little but are still deadly out to 200 yards. Then as you get a little older you can "grow into" the rifle and start shooting full powered loads. Then again a .243 will kill them just as dead when you are 30 as it did when you are 14, just another option to think about

Other - 25-06 rem is my intial suggestion, low recoil, nice flat shooterand ideal forvarmits to deer sized game. If you plan to possibly hunt more then deer with this rifle in the future then another not really on your list is the 7mm 08 rem. Nice on the shoulder but can be loaded with heavier for cal. bullets to be used on game that needs it. Not the fastest 7mm based cartridge but plenty flat enough for the majority of shooters limits..versatile little cartridge with out the report(recoil).

RE: new deer rifle
I have been shooting my deer so far with my 22-250 and from what ive heard thats about the same as a 243. so the next deer rifle im goin to get i want to have some more knock down then my 22-250 but dont want it to knock me down. i have pretty much narrowed it down to 270. 30-06 and 25-06
