I agree with the buy American made comment. If you're looking for a high end, high quality, great shooting rifle, purchase a Kimber. If you want better, you'll need to go custom. Mine shoots sub MOA (less than an 1" at 100 yards).

I also own two Remington model 700s, one in .300wsm (stainless) and one in .308. Both shoot 1 MOA (1" at 100 yards). I lived in NH for 20 years. My goto rifle was a Winchester Model 70 in .30-06. I always felt more secure with the .30-06 (vs the .308) in bear country.

I had a browning a-bolt composite stalker in 308 win really liked the gun but not fussy on the drop plate so i traded for a tikka t3 lite stanless 308 win,it had a stright clip also a really nice gun and its a shooter to. this year it was passed around by my family and it also took 3 nice whitetail and 2 moose using hornady sst all 3 deer droped in there trax the 2 moose only took a few steps . both are realynice guns. as for the x-bolt i called my gun dealer last week and told him to order me one in composite stalker 308 they have some nice new features i will give my tikka to my father when the x-bolt comes in. browning guns a very well put togeather and im sure the x bolt is to

the current issue of field and stream has a little section about new rifles, including the X-bolt. I can't remember what it said, but it may be of interest in your decision. In reality though, you-re talking about two rifles that very few people will be able to find fault with, thus a no-lose decision.

RE: RIFLE SELECTION

Since you don't say otherwise,I assume you're primarily hunting Whitetail.... In that case, you could not possibly go wrong with a Browning A Bolt Stalker chambered in 270 WSM. The darn things are virtually indestructable, and the short action makes getting off 2nd and 3rd shots alot easier..... If you have hopes of drawing a Moose tag, then a 7MM WSM might be a better choice.
