Antlers Falling in IL???
 

Went hunting 3 days this week trying not to eat tag. No luck.

Anyways, several of the smaller bucks I saw only had 1 antler. I've got to believe they are finally starting to drop. I'll probably give it another week or so, but then it's time to tear up the woods looking for antlers. Good luck!

I got a quick question, how do yall shed hunt? Do you just walk through the woods or look for certain things?

That or you can take your dogs with you like mine, they just bring em back after being back all day.

I have found a couple already that where just dropped. The best way that we have found them is just to walk around a lot. We found 26 last year.

Went out for the doe only gun season in ill this weekend. I found a fresh antler right in front of my stand.Wasnt there friday but was there saturday evening.

FOUND A 135 INCH . EIGHT POINT SET SATURDAY MORNING. BIGGEST SET EVER FOUND FOR ME..... WITHUN 6 FT. OF EACH OTHER. GOT KUCKY I GUESS. WALKED ALL DAY IT WAS MINUS SEVEN WITHOUT THE WIND CHILL......................

Already found a big set laying right next to each other. Talked to a couple other guys who have found one or two. However, I saw 7 different bucks this weekend and they all had full headgear.

On another note, I'm always amazed at the bucks I see after the season is over. I can't say for sure whether or not I had seen any of them before (4 were real nice....can't wait till next year ;)).

I did a bit of hiking too over the last week, and saw 7 bucks packing, and one was a giant. Didn't find any sheds. For S/ IL I like to start about Valentimes day.

I'll be down in Pope County the 8,9, and 10 of Feb. So i'll be checking the areas I hunt. I have somefriends down there and they shed hunt on horse back. They claim being up higher gives them a better view. Makes sense to me.

I seen a monster carrying full set of head gear this past weekend.. Went walking this week and found no sheds, did find a dead buck though.. Nice ten pointer, real shame...

Within a couple weeks maybe I'll start looking really hard here in So IL
