RE: 22-250 for deer?

I have used one on summer permits (shooting deer in the corn fields) and my six year old son currently uses one. Itis not my#1 choice in a deer rifle but under the right conditions it is an effective caliber for deer. Me and my son let several bucks and does walk this year because they never gave him the right shot. A gun is only as good as the person behind it. My best friend and his father use one for there main deer rifle and have always had good luck with them. His father even took it to Maine bear hunting and took a bear with it.

my cousin has used one for a lot of years. He sits in a box over a small clearing in hte woods. limits his shots and always gets deer. it is all about the shooter, and not going past your boundaries.

I do and also use .22 hornet and .222 together they have more
than 150 kills with no losses over the last 20 years.

I have used one since i killed my first deer at 7. im only 14 now but have killed MANY deer with it and so has my brother and a few people i have let borrow it. and for people who say 243. is all better then a 22-250, I think there about the same gun. i would rather use my 22-250 then a 243 just because of bad experinces. and ive never really had any with my 22-250. Maybe one but i acidently shot in the shoulder. I think its a good gun, expecially for young hunters or someone that dosnt want a killer kicker or thats not goin to shoot 900 yards. even though it is a very flat shootin gun.

the two guys who consistently harvest the most deer in our hunt camp are my father and my neighbour. Dad uses a 30-06 and the neighbour uses his 22-250.

You have one brave father. I don't think i could hunt bear with a 22-250. I'd want something a little bigger... i must be a chicken :D

Here in Virginia, anything smaller than .23 is illegal. Which isn't to say that something in the .22 isn't effective, you just can't use it here.
