I have to admit, Gettin Close is bordering on erotica......didn't know it was a hunting show til someone told me. I thought it was about a smoking hot girl in the woods...go figure.

There's a woman on that show? Now Lee, well he's hot! ;)

(Actually, I like Tiffany a lot too, but not in the way you guys do. LOL!)

Gettin Close, Realtree Roadtrips, North American Whitetail, Wildlife Obessession (if you take out 50% of the commercials).

Wow, thanks guys. This thread got me to thinking. I just recently got Dish at the house and only got the Top100 package (to save money). I just saw on the website that I can get the Outdoor Channel as an ala carte option. $2 for hunting shows! You bet! I will have it when I get home. Now, if I could only do that with VS.

Favorites: Roadtrips, Gettin Close, Wildlife Obsession, The Truth, North American Whitetail, and Jim Shockey has some pretty interesting stuff going on sometimes.

Spirit of the Wild should cut out half of what they do and just show hunts cause Ted Nugent is hilarious.

I hate the same commercials over and over. Those Ciancirulos (sp.?) are annoying, and sometimesthe regular Realtree Outdoors can really endorse a product straight into the ground.

They also need to cut out stuff like Gold Fever, Four Wheel Drive stuff, and anything else that isn't somebody hammering a wild animal.

They are all pathetic.

"Lets see howeffective the new blah blah caliber is whileI sit in a tree house next to a game feeder"

Farm raised deer, boy thats some tough hunting. My favorite line is " We're going to shoot a management buck today"
What a load of crap. Thirty minutes of advertisements to convince you that last years camo pattern is no good anymore, (but it was the best last year!) and why your .270 Winjust won't cut it for whitetail anymore.
Nothing about hunting at all, just infomercials that people pay to watch. Why? because there is nothing new about deer hunting. Deer have not changedsince their creation. They eat, poop, breed. Same way, same time, every year.

Now where's that damn cough suppressor.........

deer and deer hunting is excellent...charlie alsheimer, leonard lee rue maaan...any show, while some may be meant for entertainment, is gonna have some valuable information..you just have to watch it and take in the minuscule details, sometimes thats where the best info is

deer have not changed since their creation? now that's just assinine

How do you figure?
Well, with the theory (granted it's just a theory, but it is widely accepted and rather hard to debate in some cases) of evolution the strong survive and continue on, thus the deer found today would be much more hardy, smart and disease resistant than those found years ago. Each winter the weaker deer will perish and the stronger will continue on, soooo each year the strongest will survive. Also, in the case of deforestation and other anthropogenic changes, the deer that are better able to adapt will survive. If you were to take a deer from 250 years ago, it would probably not survive very well today due to resistances that have been built up over time to certain disesases and other things along that line. So saying that deer are the same now as they were in their creation? that's rather hard to support IMO

vabyrd 01-19-2008 04:16 PM

RE: Outdoor Channel

Their population has done nothing but increase, which is why there is disease. One might argue that they are weaker now. However, maybe "since creation" is a bit out there, but the point is, as far as hunting goes, 100 years ago, there is nothing that worked then that wont work now. Hunting is big business, which is why we have the shows....
