Congrats on an awesome buck.

get that dude on the wall.

I think like others said its all up to you but I know for me I'd mount ones smaller than that. So far I have only gotten one I wanted to spend the money on to get a shoulder mount. The others are on the wall too just not shoulder mounts.

I had a boy out from church he had an opertunity at a half rack 4 point. He got buck fever and didn't get him but I would have had him mounted for him. Also my daughter had a close encounter with a young 8 point. Another that I would have spent the money for.

Again thats a nice looking buck. I hope you get him to the taxi or freeze the cape so you don't loose it.

I have had 6 deer mounted, and every time I look at the first 4 that I had done, I ask myself why I mounted them. I killed a 145" 11 point this season and have opted for a european mount instead of a shoulder. That might be something you want to consider.

Great for being your first!.......Mount?....Heck Yeah!IMHO, every one after this one, has to be better to mount or I'll do as Retrieverman suggested....

That is very nice looking rack. Very symmetrical, ... long riser tines, decent spread. It would make a beautiful mount. There may be bigger, brawnier deer, but very few would be more aesthetically pleasing for a mount.

Splitear_Leland said what I first thought- heck they all are keepers. I'm not into catch and release deer hunting yet. I don't like it for fishing either, but that deserves its own thread.

8mm/06 said it right, that is a beauty. It looks like a good healty deer should look, symmetric, tall, and pretty wide, with a good graceful look. Go for it if that is what you want. A first buck like that gets mounted even here in the land of the giants.

A buddy of mine had his first deer mounted and it was a doe. 35 years later it is now displayed in the great room of his house along with a 160" deer his son shot.

Man, if they only looked like that down here in East Central Florida....Good job!!!!!!!!!!
A trophy animal to meis when all my preperations come together and that breath, aim, squeeze connects and I get to bring home the Back Strap for the Bar-B!!!!! Our deer down here tend to average around 110-130#s. Hunting on public land, most bucks are only 1.5-3.0 year olds and the soil is sually not rich so antler growth is corresponding. They are all trophies!
