Things we go thru. Ups and downs. When I was younger I never would have thought.

I've been hunting at various times in my life but have never killed a deer or elk. Now at 56 my life has settled down and I want to start hunting again. I live in So California and am wondering if any one has advice to help me get going.

Welcome!

What kind of advice you looking for? General? Local info???

Lay it out and I am sure you will get what you want along with a little BS too!

Good question. I think what I'm looking for is an easy first deerhunt. Something to get my feet.

Do you plan on traveling? Are there blacktails that far south??? If money isn't an object there are whopper Mulies all throughout the SW(NM, AZ, UT), tags are pricey and somewhat hard to draw. For whitetails, Texas is a good bet, you can whack and stack does for the freezer and there are some VERY big bucks...pretty much all Outfitted Ranch style hunts and will cost you a few bucks(no pun intended).

Do you plan on gun or bow hunting? If so what kind of euquipment do you have? Do you have your own land to hunt or is there public land nearby? Fill us in and like carpmaster said, will get you going.

Tell us that you own thousands of acres of private land and we will come to help you get your deer. OBTW at 56 life is just beginning. Glad you want to start hunting again.
