Cutting the Stock

Iam starting this young boy on hunting this coming fall. He is 10 and wants to hunt real bad, and has no one that will take him, not from a hunting family. He is not a big framed boy. I am buying him a .243 and plan on cutting the stock so the rifle fits him proberly and he can learn to shootit.

Will this increase the recoil? I dont want him to become gun shy shooting it.

A stock that fits him will probably reduce felt recoil. He'll be shooting comfortably with the proper form. Save the piece you remove. You can peg and glue it back on in a couple of years when he grows into the full length stock.

wingbones right keep the cut butt end and use it later or, Rossi firearms has a great youth gun itcomeswith three diffrent barrels a 22, 20 gauge, and i think you can choose between the rifel calibers but i do know they offer it in a 243. very cheap investment (under 150.00) and he has all three guns just to see if hes intrested

The gun should fit him....Cut it to what it needs to be. The only downside is he will grow fast!!

I dont beleive this will increase recoil to bad.

It might be easier to buy a synthetic youth stock and swap it out later on rather than cutting up your rifle.
