78 Degrees

It's suppose to be 78 degrees this afternoon, swirling winds, if any and we have the biggest acorn crop I've ever seen. Every water oak is loaded as well as the other oaks. The deer don't have to move unless they want to and the rut is over a month away. I'd rather stay home and take a nap, but my grandson wants to go hunting, so we will.............:)

Your chances of seeing a deer maybe looking slim but your chances of seeing a der in the living room are slimmer.

It is supposed to be 83 here today with a humidity to match. I might go hog hunting tonight, but I won't be deer hunting today.

Rub it in there Reb.
I went out with the smoke pole this morning and tried to cross a swamp to get to a high point to see if I could get a look at a buck that was in the area. Everything was white and snow covered and it had been cold enough to freeze the swamp. I was almost to my spot and one leg broke through and I went in right up to my crotch and still didn't reach the bottom. I ended up on my back and this old timer had a heck of a time getting that one leg out of the hole. Long 1 mile walk back to the truck with a 18" Lacrosse Burley boot full of water and frozen camo coverall (1 leg only).
