Good slug gun?

RE: Good slug gun?
i just retired my new england 12ga., now it's a rabbit slayer!
accuracy was good upto 100yds. with a slight drop using therifle sights, after that the 1oz. slugs would drop pretty quickly. my dad gave $50 for this gun about 12 years ago, and it's never had any issues.

RE: Good slug gun?
I've got three and happy withall of them
1. Mossberg 500 with rifled cantilever scope mount barrel, Nikon Pro Staff scope
2. Remington 1187 with rifled cantilever scope mount barrel, Nikon Pro Staff scope
3. Remington 870 smooth bore slug barrel with iron sights
All three are 12 gauge and shoots the Lightfield Hybreds excellent. I didn't use any of them this year taking my two deer with a muzzleloader both Illinois seasons. But I did have the Mossberg with me in case the weather was crap.

if your only going to use if for deer (slug gun only) take a look at the H&R tracker 2 and the H&R ultra slug hunter, the only diff. is that the tracker is lighter, both good guns i have the tracker 2 it is around 180.

Hands down, for the money and accuracy I would have to tell you to go with the H&R USH (Ultra Slug Hunter). I would put this gun up against the Tar-Hunt which I had just recently purchased. Anybody who says an 870, hasn't ever shot an H&R or seen how accurate they are. I've shot deer at 116, 119, and 126 yards respectively. You can literally lay a pop can down so that the underside or top are only showing and hit it repeatedly......at 100 yards. You can buy a H&R for less than, what a barrel costs for other guns..... Only downside is that you only have one shot, but that's all you need!!! Don't leave out the 20 gauge, it's more then capable to take on deer.

Lots of Remington fans out there. I'll suggest a Mossberg 835 with a Simmons scope shooting a Winchester BRI 1oz sabot slug. Tight groups and awesome knockdown power. It forever changed my mind about slug accuracy. IF its 150 yards or less, its going in the back of my truck.
