The "bump" was me putting a 1/2 turn on the ring screws afterI got home. Find it hard to believe it whacked the scope out. Maybe the 3x9 Simmons is messed up; didn't seem to be. Going out Fri with same gun open and a scoped Glenfield. I have a nice old 788 in .243 I haven't dialed in yet, either.

.243's work real nice in the Hill Country. Haven't lost one yet...

I would be at all surprised if something did "break" inside the Simmons. If it were me, I would sight in the 243 and take it.
