Just wondering what states are you allowed to hunt deer with a centerfire rifle? I know some states only allowed shotgun or muzzleloader lookin to go some place where I can take my Remington 700 in 300 WSM and try to get a wallhanger whitetail for my wall :D

Very few states are shotgun /ML only most states are just shotgun in sub urban areas and rile in rural parts.

Most of Wisconsin is open to rifles. The more populated counties are shotgun/handgun only.

I think it was Kewaunee county that changed back to allow rifles this year too. Hopefully its not long til this antequated notion is put to rest and rifles can be used everywhere.

Like NightFire stated ......you can Rifle Hunt in Missouri also....then after Rifle Season there is Muzzle Loader Season.

Pennsylvania is centerfire.... Always starts the first Monday after Thanksgiving and runs for two weeks, (Except Sundays)[/align]

Certain parts of NEW YORK you can use a rifle, the rest shotgun and smokepole

You can add South Carolinaand Florida for states that allow centerfire rifles. But I would not come to Florida to hunt deer. (-:

Virginia is split up by the Blue Ridge Mts....

Shotgun/ML -- East of the Blue Ridge. **
Rifle -- West of the Blue Ridge.

**There are some special county ordnances in the east, where you can use a rifle but you have to be in a tree stand.

Howard, Anne Arundel, Montgomery, Baltimore, Harford, Prince George's and parts of Frederick County do not allow "modern breech loading rifles" as stated by the Maryland DNR. The rest of the state you can use rifles.

In Louisiana you can rifle hunt from the end of Oct. to around the 12th to 14th of Jan. The rest of the year to the 31st is muzzleloading and then bow only.
