Another day another deer PA 8pt.

Well if any of you have seen the post stolen 9 point you have heard about my trouble opening day and the stuff that happened there. Anyways I was back out today and got another chance at a deer. He's a decent sized buck for my neck of the woods but he is definitely not even close to the one I shot on monday.

This deer came up the hill and bedded down about 175 yards away, I could barely see him through the thicket. All he left out to shoot was a headshot and his butt. I knew that I wasnt going to risk such an ill-advised shot and I waited him out until he got up from his bed. I first saw the buck around 11, and he didnt decide to get up until about 1 when a doe ran by. When he got up to check her out he gave me a decent shot and I capitalized. I paced it out at 227 steps, but I figure my stride was shorter than 3 feet so I would imagine the shot was more like 150-175 yards. Ended up having to take it freehand believe it or not. (just the way it worked out) I hit him perfect shot right in the boiler room and he ran to the right about 20 yards then crashed got back up and ran about 10 yards to the left where he expired. Got down out of the stand and found him. He's a decent 8 point like I said and its bittersweet after monday's experience. Here are some piks.
