head mount

I havent shot a buck the first one I do get going get a head mount. I am not 100 % sure how this is done. You start skinning right behind the shoulders and go all the way to the base of the head and cut the head off. Is this right?

If you are not sure take it to a meat processer and let them cape it out for you if cost about $15. May times the taxi will pick it up from there.

i brought my whole deer to the taxidermist and he caped it for me , that way he knew how much extra skin cape to leave , plus he knew what the deer looked like with it on still !

I'm lucky I guess ... my taxidermist also does meat processing.

I hear if you mess the cape up very bad he will not be able to fix it. That or he will have to use a cape from another deer. So I'm with the other fellas on this, it's best to have it done for you.
