I have only seen pellets. Could it maybe have something to do with their diet?
Yes I was told that bucks clump up and does are always pellets, but that has been debunked. it is strictly their diet. When they start eating more fiber (browse etc.) it clumps more

Thanks... I was scouting a new hunting area and found several piles. The first 3 or 4 piles were loose pellets then 3 piles of clumps and then about 5 more piles of pellets all within about 50-75 yards. I know they're eating alot of browse in this area because it's a ridge about 20 yards wide running between a canal and a knee deep swamp. There were acorns on the ridge but not many. I think they've all been eaten up.
