I'm not sure what state you are in but here in WV, we have the Hunter For The Hungry program. Info can be found at the DNR website, most outdoor sports shops and check in stations.
Basically, after checking in your deer, you can takeit to most processors and let them know you want to donate the deer to the program. The processor will process the deer and it will be picked up by someone from the program where it will be used to feed needy families and used in soup kitchens around the state.
There is no cost to the hunter. you only have to drop it off at the processor.

OnceI have a deer or two in my freezer, the remainder go to this program. I really look forward to being able to donate the rest. Both of the deer above were donated to the program.
