I have heard good things about the "CVA Wolf." Especiallyfor the money.
I have a CVA Optima Pro. I've taken about 20% of my deer with it. I began tohavesome trouble with ruston the inside at the muzzle. I thought I was cleaning it well enough to prevent that. |

ORIGINAL: Remnard Shouldering a muzzleloader alone should not dictate your purchase. Ease of cleaning, like an easily removeable breech plug and a seal primer chamber to keep the weather out are just 2 requirements I would look at. These things use corrosive powder and I have seen many a barrel ruined by neglect because it was a PIA to clean. If the gun is not comfortable or does not fit right, the shooter will not enjoy it as much. |

The Omega, Encore and prohunter along with several other makes out there all are good weapons. Find out which bullets the manufacturer recommends for best accuracy and hit the range and have some fun. Clean the gun with a wet patch followed by a dray after each round, and scrub it after every tenth round to break it in right. Don't go crazy with a scope. Get a quality 1.5X6 or 2X7 that has a good objective size for light gathering ability. The low end will get you on deer fast and the higher magnification will be there when an animal is further out and you have a little time to crank it up to get a better shot placement. Knock one down T. I think the way a gun fits you is the most important thing in picking out any gun. Why would you want to buy a gun that doesn't feel right when you shoulder it? If I had a gun and it didn't fit good I would give a rats a$$ how much time it took to clean. I'd rather spend more time cleaning a gun I'm comfortable shooting. The Pro Hunter and Encore are both nice muzzleloaders but you should pay attention and re-read his post.........$400. |

this might not sound good
but i have a new fronteir beartooth magnum .45 caliber and it was only 150$ out of basspro i have a 3x9 bushnell scope and we have killed 5 deer with it in two years it shoots great |

I would have to go with the T.C. Encore. Friend has one, great gun, I am in love with it.

ANOTHER VOTE for the TC TRIUMPH. i killed 6 deer w/ mine this year. its very easy to clean.
