Ignore the HNI Visitor
Usually a guy that makes a whole lot of innane posts is just looking to bump our legit conversations off the page. Please ignore the toad and bump some of the posts the he moved off the front page.
Jokers like this usually have a fairly short attention span (as well as a short....um magnum). Leave him alone and he'll go home. |
RE: Ignore the HNI Visitor
I have to go. Will sombody bump some more of our posts please. Thanks

RE: Ignore the HNI Visitor
I have seen a number of very good topics started by the visitors. Most of them seem to be younger hunters just a little hesitant to join the board. Make them welcome. The more the merrier. I think that the topics are saved up by the administration for a couple of days and then posted, but I'm not positive. They seem to be from a number of posters, not just one person.

RE: Ignore the HNI Visitor
I've seen it before. This batch of questions fits the M.O. A moderator might be able to tell if they come from the same place. I smell a rat. Sorry.

RE: Ignore the HNI Visitor
I can only recall one time being buried in HNI posts and a lot of them do make sense so I don't have a problem with it . What ever thier reason is for not joining we should at least try to make them feel welcome and maybe more of them would join .

RE: Ignore the HNI Visitor
that is a good point big buck. but i would think that if he/she is trying to throw a wrench into the operation, he/she would post numerous topics on multiple forums. why just one? ive looked through a few and found only a small amout posted elsewhere. therefore, i think this poster is legit.

RE: Ignore the HNI Visitor
i came here the other day and the first 10+posts where from this character!!! i quit reading and replying as soon as he came here...something is just wierd...if people really mail the board they should just come here plain and simple no reason not to...i was like 12 or 13 when i came here and i worked it fine....i just chose to ignor the character a while ago and still havent read any of the posts...sure they all make sense and are good questions but i dont like helping people i dont know who im helping...could be an anti that is just wondering how we take animals and getin inside views or something lol thats weak i know i know...

RE: Ignore the HNI Visitor
I dont think they were from the same person. I would guess that things were getting pretty slow around here so the powers that be decided to post a bunch of questions that were sent in to them.

RE: Ignore the HNI Visitor
Actually, don't ignore HNI Visitor. HNI Visitor is a username the administration of Huntingnet has created to post questions for visitors to the web site but may be unfamiliar with the messageboard or be a frequent reader without the resource to register or join. These questions come from legitamate hunters like you and I, young and old alike looking for information. I'd appreciate it and I know the admin if we could accept the questions and answer them with the best information we can. Sometimes they may seem like they are all thrown in at once but hey, I agree with some of the above, some of the are great questions and I as well as some of you could probably learn a thing or two. Thanks for your patience and cooperation.

RE: Ignore the HNI Visitor
I dont understand. If they dont have the means to reg. or join then how do they view the answers given? It does not cost to reg. If they are on line then they should have a e-mail address.
I agree it is rather strange. Rick Lifes not about knowing the answers, its about asking the questions. |

Who, maybe these people are at work where they can't register to post.

more than likely, they are getting on at school or a library and don't have their own email address in order to register anyway BBB, it's not the same guy trying to buck his post count - its like Rob/PA Bowyer said (there was actually a post expaining this when they first started doing it)...if you would read the post at the bottom of each one it tells you this [*]NRA Annual Member www.nra.org[*]TNUSA Annual Member www.tnugent.com[*]NAHC[*]GOA[*]IDPA Edited by - BrianDamage on 01/23/2003 08:33:19 |
RE: Ignore the HNI Visitor
BBB I usually agree with you 100%, but I think that NCBowHunter1969 proved that they are people who may be undecided on whether or not to join. I was glad that NCBowHunter1969 said he used to be one of the HNI posters and decided to join because of replies he received.
I will admit that some of the question posed are odd, but many of them seem legit, and the more folks we can help out hunting today the more secure the future of our sport will be for our children and grandchildren. The Tazman aka Martin Price Proud father of a Devil Dog ![]() |
RE: Ignore the HNI Visitor
Well, now, everyone is aware of the potential problem. I guess the mods should be able to see a pattern and hopefully keep it under control. The questions are legit alright but only the mods can really tell if there is a problem with the poster.
I hope we can keep making new people feel welcome and I certainly don't want to mis-label a good intentioned newbie a toad. Heck, most newbies can teach us all something also. Just beware, it is a problem on other boards. It's easy to deal with once uncovered but you have to keep an eye out. Sorry for any offense my paranoia has caused. |
RE: Ignore the HNI Visitor
BBB, obviously no offense taken. We appreciate the alertness and the help that is for sure. Like I said, HNI administration puts these posts here deliberately so it's no one spamming the boards.
AND, I was one of these guys myself. 3 years ago prior to the new layouts I visited this board from work stations. I had no email account and could not register. At the time, each time you posted you need to enter your email address. I had none so I started posting by putting a feedback email address for Huntingnet....lol We've come a long way. Good Luck and Good Shooting Rob |
