Which Sabots Should I Try?

I have a Reminton 1100 12 gauge. It has a cantelever riflled barrel and a Leopold scope. I have had it a few years. I have always shot the Reminton Coppersolid Sabots 2 3/4". I can't get a real tight grouping at 100 yards.

Starting next year I plan to try a new brand of sabots. I feel I should get better then a 6"-8" diameter on the target. Today I even had a "flier" totally miss the paper. It was pretty windy but still shouldn't miss like that. The next shot was right in the 6"-8" diameter. Only 1 bullseye out of 8 shots.

I want some ideas on a new brand of sabots to try. At around 14 dollars a box I would go broke trying too many brands.

I have a Remington 7400 .270 rifle and get 1"-2" groups at 100 yards. Am I expecting too much from the 12 gauge?

Thanks fo the feedback.

since you are on paper try a few different brands and see what your gun likes. i switched to HORNADY SST this year. they shoot great. [/align]

My 1100 slug gun prefers the Lightfield's.They average right at 2.5" at 100 yards. You should also be cleaning the barrel after every 5 shots due to plastic fouling, if you are not.

I have the same set-up as you. I found that the Lightfields and Winchester Platinum Tips were the most accurate. I never could get any high-velocity slugs to shoot well. I also agree on the advice aboutcleaning often.
I think that most 1-2" groups with slug guns are boasts. I was happy with 3-4" groups from my slug gun. I am not happy with any more than an 1" from my rifles, and have been able to get all of them to shoot that well for three shots with some handloading.
